Non-Motorized Projects & Improvements

Just like the 2021- 2024 millage, all revenue generated by the millage stays in Washtenaw County. If renewed and restored, the 0.5 mill is expected to generate approximately $10.9 million per year for roads and non-motorized pathway projects.
- WCRC would receive approximately $4.9 million per year for road work in 20 townships.
- Cities and villages would receive approximately $3.8 million per year, with specific allocations based on the amount raised within cities borders.
- The Washtenaw County Parks & Recreation Commission would receive approximately $2.2 million per year to support the expansion of the county non-motorized path network through the Border to Border Trail Project (B2B Trail) and the Connecting Communities Grant Program.
Specifically, the millage funding will be used for:
- Border to Border Trail projects, such as continuing to close the gap between the cities of Chelsea and Dexter, building a tunnel under railroad tracks in Ann Arbor’s Bandemere Park for off-road Trail passage to the west, and resurfacing sections of the trail along Grove and Bridge Roads in Ypsilanti.
- Supporting the popular Washtenaw County Parks and Recreation Commission’s “Connecting Communities” grant program that helps fund non-B2B trail projects.
In addition, a portion of the non-motorized funds raised would go directly to cities and villages to fund their non-motorized projects such as bike lanes, sidewalks, and lighted crosswalks.
